Teen Arrested After BB Gun Attack and High-Speed Chase in DeSoto County

On September 13, 2024 at approximately 1:34 am, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of an individual having multiple lacerations after being shot with metal BB projectiles from a BB gun. The suspect, later identified as, Omar Villa, 16, had reportedly shot the victim with the BB gun multiple times, leaving several injuries, before driving away in a 2007 white Ford Expedition.
Deputies identified the vehicle driving into the county on State Road 31, followed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Omar proceeded to drive through multiple stop sign intersections without stopping. Deputies detained him and the BB gun used was not recovered.
Omar was arrested and transported to the DeSoto County Jail, facing felony charges including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, fleeing to elude, resisting without violence, no driver’s license never had one issued. Two criminal citations were issued for fleeing to elude and having no driver’s license.
