Quick Get Away Ends In Quick Capture

On August 18, 2024, our #TeamDCSO deputies responded to a call at Big Tree RV Park regarding a stolen vehicle. The resident had stepped away briefly, leaving the car unattended to cool down when Juan Carlos Gomez seized the opportunity and drove off!

Thanks to a vigilant neighbor’s description and our deputies’ swift action, we were able to track down Gomez nearby. He was quickly detained and the stolen vehicle, still running and undamaged, was recovered at a nearby business.

Gomez is now facing charges of Grand Theft Motor Vehicle at the DeSoto County Jail. Sheriff Jim Potter is proud of our hardworking team for bringing the vehicle back to its owner safely!
