On August 6, 2024, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division (CID) detectives recovered a stolen portable power air compressor generator during a traffic stop. The equipment, reported stolen out of Collier County, was found on a trailer being hauled by Dennes Pinero.
Pinero claimed he bought the trailer for a suspiciously low price from an unknown individual, but our detectives uncovered much more. The GPS on the generator had been disabled, the truck was improperly registered, and the truck itself was a cloned stolen vehicle with a fake VIN!
Pinero also gave deputies a false name, but thanks to the thorough work of our jail staff, his true identity was revealed. Heβs now facing serious charges, including Grand Theft Motor Vehicle, Dealing in Stolen Property and Providing a False Name while Lawfully Detained.
