DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division will STOP the Grinch from stealing Christmas… right in his tracks!
Our Criminal Investigation Division conducted a search warrant of a residence at 2689 SW Highway 17, and arrested Macario Guzman IV today as the primary suspect in at least 11 thefts, including an armed burglary! Over the last several weeks, from the start of November until now, numerous personal items were stolen. Today our CID recovered several cellphones, IDs, credit and debit cards, purses, backpacks, Airpods, Pokémon collectibles, and more. We know at least 11 burglaries have been resolved through this investigation including 8 vehicle thefts (1 stolen firearm), and 3 home burglaries.
Right now an investigation continues as additional items were recovered that were not reported stolen.
Macario Guzman IV also faces several charges related to the marijuana, Xanax pills and THC edibles recovered during the search warrant execution.
At 17 years old, Guzman IV has a lengthy prior criminal background including multiple felonies for burglaries and theft related offenses.
Macario Guzman Jr., our primary suspect’s father was also arrested today during the search warrant for Possession of Methamphetamine.
Our Criminal Investigation Division’s hard work will bring thousands of dollars’ worth of stolen property back to the rightful owners. Sheriff Potter is proud our DCSO staff will not stop our efforts to protect the people and properties in DeSoto County.
