MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez announced the opening of registration for the 2024 Florida Python Challenge®. Participants can compete for over $25,000 in prizes by removing invasive Burmese pythons from the wild. The 10-day competition, running from August 9-18, 2024, is open to both professionals and novices who complete the required online training.

Last year, the challenge removed 209 pythons, contributing to a total of 917 pythons removed to date. The competition also offers year-round python removal opportunities on various lands, encouraging humane killing on private properties with owner permission.
Prizes are awarded in professional, novice, and military categories, thanks to sponsors including the Bergeron Everglades Foundation, InversaLeathers, and Edison National Bank/Bank of the Islands.
