DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office

On January 31, 2024, our deputies responded to a burglary in progress involving an enclosed trailer at a cell tower location. The caller reported a truck fled recklessly into Charlotte County after stealing equipment worth thousands. Despite losing sight of the truck, our Criminal Investigative Division pursued leads, resulting in two primary suspects.

After a thorough investigation, Petro Zadereyko was identified as the truck’s registered owner. A trailer used by Petro was identified, registered to Aleksandr Borodavin. Aleksandr is a suspect in a larceny case from Prince George County Virgina, resulting in multiple cell tower burglaries.

Fast forward to February 19, 2024, our deputies located the truck tied to numerous burglaries and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. Petro, the driver, was swiftly arrested and brought to our office, confessing to the burglary, implicating Aleksandr to our burglary. As Petro was being question, Aleksandr arrived at the Sheriff’s Office and was promptly arrested. Detectives from the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office were able to tie Petro and Aleksandr to several cell tower burglaries as well.

Both suspects face charges of Burglary of Conveyance and Grand Theft. Sheriff Potter commends our dedicated detectives for their persistence and teamwork in bringing these individuals to justice. #TeamDCSO remains committed to keeping our community safe.
