Arrest Made Following Motorcycle Pursuit

On Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office detectives observed a motorcycle without a tag. When they attempted a traffic stop, the driver continued riding, eventually losing control and fleeing on foot. Detective Santana pursued and apprehended the suspect, identified as Jose Luis Zavaleta.

Zavaleta was found without a valid driver’s license or motorcycle endorsement. During the pursuit, he discarded bags containing over two grams of methamphetamine. The motorcycle was also unregistered.

Zavaleta was arrested and transported to DeSoto County Jail. He faces multiple charges including:
– Possession of Controlled Substance
– Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
– Fleeing to Elude
– Resisting Officer without Violence
– Tampering with Physical Evidence
– No Valid Driver’s License
– No Motorcycle Registration
– No Motorcycle Endorsement
